Puigcerdà is the historic capital town of La Cerdanya and officially of the current region of Baixa Cerdanya, as well as being head of the judicial party of Puigcerdà. It is located in the province of Girona, Catalonia. The municipal term limits the north with Ur, Enveig, the Tor de Querol, the Guingueta d'Ix and Palau de Cerdanya; and to the south, with Guils de Cerdanya, Alp, Bolvir and Fontanals de Cerdanya

Se encuentra ubicado en la provinciadeGirona, Cataluña. El término municipal limita al norte con Ur, Enveig, el Tor de Querol, la Guingueta d'Ix y el Palau de Cerdanya; y al sur, con Guils de Cerdanya, Alp, Bolvir y Fontanals de Cerdanya. 

El lugar más visitado de Puigcerdá es su lago. Su construcción data del siglo XIII. Su origen podría haber sido un pequeño embalse natural. El parque Schierbeck, ubicado junto al lago, fue creado a fines del siglo XIX por iniciativa del cónsul danés, el alemán Schierbeck, de quien toma su nombre.
